The Perfect Marriage: Octagon Saltillo & The San Luis Obispo Collection

The Octagon Saltillo pattern consists of pairing an octagon tile with a smaller square tile to create a unique look.  One way to liven this design is to replace the square Saltillo tile with a Talavera tile.  Our client went with a traditional oil finish on their Saltillo and replaced some of the squares with a selection of tiles from our San Luis Obispo collection.  In addition the client decided to use the San Luis Obispo collection to create a decorative trim around their fireplace mantle.  At Place of Clay in addition to providing raw Saltillo tiles, we offer a...

A Recent Remodel

A Recent Remodel

A recent client took on a home remodel and chose to feature a selection of tiles from our Azulejos Andaluz, Linea Tradicional and San Luis Obispo Collections.  The walk in shower is decorated in our Blanco Mexicano Andaluz tile, a Fleur Di Lis design that is beautiful, and a trim and inset that consists of the Capitola, Palos Verdes, and Malibu tiles from our San Luis Obispo Collection. The Dijon Pattern

The Dijon Pattern

A recent client decided to use the Dijon pattern in Saltillo for the flooring in their house.  The pattern consists of pairing a square saltillo tile with four pickets to create a very stylish and unique look.  The client also chose to use an oil finish to complete the look.  The oil finish is a traditional style that uses a blend of boiled linseed oil and paint thinner to create a unique look that brings out the best colors in the Saltillo tile.  These tiles were then finished with a acrylic wax based finish called Plaza to complete the look...

Your Dream Courtyard

Your Dream Courtyard

Our client chose to decorate their patio with a selection of Saltillo and Talavera tiles.  As seen in the photos, the client went with sections of Octagon Saltillo that featured the Talavera dot, alternating between decorative Talavera and Solidos from our Barcelona and Linea Tradicional collections.  In addition the client used a selection of square Saltillo tiles around their fountain and finished the fountain off with a Talavera mural and tiles to compliment the stone trim and features.
